[katrina] Can't do it all self.... (call for volunteers)

I need help!

I'd like to off-load the job of keeping the volunteer services listing
up to date.

For the moment:

Would someone:

Starting with this list, first generate an Excel worksheet with the contents. (Put the category in the first column of each entry.)

Then... make it grow! The Red Cross just announced a batch of new services. There needs to be a transportation section. Start combing the web. These things are often posted to Nola.com or neworleans.craigslist.com. Be critical of services; there's no point in listing things which aren't actually helpful.

I need to go collapse with exhaustion momentarily. I'm not going to be on-line much tomorrow (maybe a little in the evening). If someone else could do this when I'm out of touch, that would be a big help.

If they even wanted to update the HTML version (manually, and email it) for me, that would be groovy.

Done! Thanks to cellio and eanja.

Longer term:

I'm looking for a team of four people to take it on, on-going. I was thinking of people being responsible in shifts. Each day at the same time, say, a volunteer takes over the list and spends an hour updating it. I was thinking "early am", "early afternoon", "early evening" and "midnight". I'm open to suggestions of alternative formats.

I will, of course, be automating the process of submitting updates so I don't personally have to do it.

The commitment would be until the four decide the list is no longer useful, or one finds a replacement for oneself acceptible to me, or I and the team decide on a different format.

So we're talking about an hour a day, for an unknown amount of time.

Edit: Feel free to link to this anywhere. And having volunteers in different time zones might be quite useful.

m_danson: It's not much but...

I've posted both your link and your plea for help in my lj. I'm also looking around for some of the mental health resources that I found after 9/11 for dealing with traumas like this. I'll email you links or text when I find them.

Coping with Disaster - Mental Health Links

Not quite in line with what you've been doing but I hope they are helpful.

updating off your site Cellio.

Let me know if it moves. I'll help as
long as our bandwidth can take the hit.

I can try and look for the emails off this list for you. I'll email you an excel file when I get done (or before I go to bed if I can't find them all.)
